Mostafa Abdelkarim competed for Virginia Mock Trial from 2003 to 2007. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs in 2007, and from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor in 2011.
During his time with Virginia Mock Trial, Mostafa competed as an attorney and a witness, and was a member of the teams that won the National Championship in 2006 and 2007. He served as a captain in 2007. As a competitor, Mostafa won a total of five individual awards, including All-American Witness Awards at the National Championship Tournament in 2006 and 2007.
At Harvard Law School, Mostafa focused on international law. He competed for the law school's mock trial team as an attorney and won a national championship in 2010.
Mostafa is currently based in Dubai, where he practices at a US international law firm and represents clients in international arbitration and cross-border litigation.
